This Art Camp gives children a wonderful introduction to several forms of visual art. Each day brings a new project that may include drawing, painting, printmaking, or sculpture. This online visual arts and design program is a great opportunity for young artists to develop creativity and fundamental skills.
Art camps run from Monday to Friday and have a varied curriculum from week to week.

Ages 7-12
Intro to Hand Building will be an opportunity for students to work with clay as an art medium. Each student will become familiar with the basic methods of construction, decoration, vocabulary, as well as sculptural techniques.
***Hand building is the method of manipulating clay using one's hands and handheld tools. Children will use slab, coil and pinch techniques to create and paint a project.
Air drying clay will be used for the series. This type of clay doesn't require an oven or kiln to create a beautiful, unique art.
Bookbinding: A field guide to the rare and mystical creatures of the forest (Camp)

Ages 8-14
Each week we will make a different kind of book. Students will learn how to make a book and how to develop a storyline. They will develop a narrative using both words and images.
Week 1: Accordion style Books
Day 1: Making the covers for the book
Day 2: Make the inside accordion part of the book.
Day 3: Learn about creatures and organisms of the forest and begin writing the story and drawing pictures
Day 4: Make another accordion book.

*** Register for one or two weeks. Separate registration for each week of book binding camp.

Week 2: Hand Sewn Books
Day 1: Fold paper together and pierce station holes in them.
Day 2: Finish making book one and start developing a storyline with images. All of the elements of an artist’s book from the paper to the text/images are all interconnected.
Day 3: Continue working on the book. Second half of the class begin hand sewing another book as a way of ingraining this bookbinding technique.
Day 4: Begin creating content for the second book.
Day 5: First half of class the students will finish the second book. Second half of class read books aloud and share with classmates.
Different techniques each day, these will be simple fun projects.
Day 1: Nature printing (with leaves and flowers)
Day 2: Monoprinting with Gelatin
Day 3: Marbled Paper
Day 4: Sun Printing
Day 5: Relief Printing
Yayoi Kusama
Week 1. Introduction to Yayoi Kusama and her amazing work. We will make a paper mache pumpkin.
Week 2: Watch a short video together about Yayoi's work and talk about why her work contains repetitions and patterns. Continue working on the paper mache pumpkin.
Week 3: Learn how to imitate Yayoi’s circular pattern on her pumpkins on your own using a sharpie. Understand how to create depth and dimension.
